This Section has been organised as a separate Section for at least 20 years, during which time there has been four Conveners, namely Sandy Mearns, Doug Stewart, John Ramage and currently Terry Reid. There are approximately 80 members aged between 55 and 83 years old.
Monday is Seniors day with tee times restricted from 0748 to 0947 during the summer months with later tee times during the winter. Around 40 members play regularly during these times. There are a variety of formats played including monthly medals, Stablefords and knock-out competitions to determine the annual Senior Club Champion and Senior Handicap Champion.
Various friendly matches are also organised between Alford, Banchory, Hopeman, Inverallochy, Kemnay and Peterhead on a home and away basis. There are also twice a year competitions on a mixed basis with the Senior Ladies Section with refreshments to follow.
The Section also has interests in the CADS (Central Aberdeenshire District Seniors) currently organised by Bryce Adams with 13 Clubs usually involved on a two-weekly basis during the summer. Each Club has 10 reserved slots who may play outside the reserved times. The individual and Club scores using the Stableford system are recorded on a league basis.
Inverurie Senior Section also play in Buchan Seniors Tour consisting of 9 Clubs, each of which has 27 members aged 60 or over. Members play over the 9 courses and again Stableford scores are recorded. The Buchan Senior Clubs also play a knock-out competition for the House of Commons Cup, won this year by Inverurie Senior Golf Section.
The Section also participate in the Inter Section Team Competition each year.
The Senior Open is normally held in July with a Senior Mixed Open in August of each year.
